Insights · clinics and health practices

Clinics need facts,
not superlatives.

Patients now ask AI which practice to visit for a specific need in a specific area. For a clinic, the way to be named is clear, factual and compliant information about each service and location, because healthcare advertising rules remove most of the shortcuts other businesses use.

01 · How patients ask

One condition.
One area. One person.

Patient questions are narrow. They name the need, the person and the place: a baby, a pregnancy, a sports injury, a female practitioner, a neighbourhood. A general “best clinic” question is crowded and changes often. A precise one is where a smaller practice can be named.

Welo Chiropractic, a practice with centres in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, shows the pattern. Google AI named Welo for “pediatric chiropractor kl” on 18 September 2026 and Gemini named it for “baby chiropractor kuala lumpur” on 19 September. In a fresh 18-question panel on 9 October 2026, 55 of 72 answers completed across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, 22 named Welo and at least 10 linked its own website. Questions about slipped disc and scoliosis did not name Welo in either city. The full record keeps every limit.

02 · The rules come first

Write inside
the advertising rules.

In Singapore, the advertising regulations under the Healthcare Services Act prohibit licensees from publishing patient testimonials or endorsements, laudatory statements and claims about awards or accreditations for licensable healthcare services. MOH’s guidance explains the scope.

In Malaysia, the rules depend on the type of practice. Private medical and dental facilities, medicine claims and traditional and complementary medicine practitioners such as chiropractors each have their own requirements, including approved wording, registration details and, in some cases, a required disclaimer. Welo’s site follows the chiropractic advertising guide the practice supplied: registered practitioner titles, “centre” rather than “clinic”, management language rather than cure claims, and the required disclaimer on every content page.

Confirm the current rules for your licence with your regulator or adviser before any page goes live. Tendou writes to the guidance you provide and does not give legal advice.

03 · What a clinic page needs

Facts a patient
checks before booking.

  • The service in plain words. What the appointment involves, who it is for and who should see a doctor first.
  • Each location as its own fact set. Address, hours, parking or transport, and which services that centre offers. Do not publish an area you do not operate in.
  • The practitioners. Names, registered titles and qualifications, shown the way your regulator allows.
  • Fees and first visit. What a first visit costs and how long it takes, where you are permitted to publish fees.
  • How to book. One clear booking or WhatsApp route per centre, tagged so you can see which page it came from.

These are the details an AI answer needs to describe a practice accurately. They are also the details that do not depend on testimonials or praise.

04 · Reviews and reputation

Let others
do the praising.

AI answers often draw on Google reviews, directories and independent articles. In Singapore, a licensee may not republish testimonials on its own site, but unsolicited reviews that patients write on third-party platforms are not the clinic’s advertising. Keep your Google Business Profile accurate for every centre, answer reviews professionally and never offer anything in exchange for one.

Check what AI says about your practice as well as whether it names you. An AI answer can repeat a clinical claim you would never publish. Correct the source page if it is yours, and do not quote AI health claims in your own marketing.

05 · Measure honestly

Named, cited,
booked: three numbers.

Track a fixed set of patient questions by service and location, and record whether the practice was named and whether its own site was linked. Report Google Search Console clicks separately. Count bookings and messages by source page in your own systems.

Expect movement in both directions. Welo’s Malaysia search clicks were 218 in July, 170 in August and 169 in September 2026 while impressions fell, and no single cause has been established. A good report shows that plainly instead of selecting the best week.

Next step

Start with one service
and one centre.

Send your website, the service you most want patients to find, the centres you operate and the advertising guidance that applies to your licence. We will check the current answers and propose the first agreed scope.
